Illustration of the first Pelsall Church or Chapel called St.Peters

This is an illustration of what the first recorded church in Pelsall looked like. Called St. Peters it was situated at where today Paradise Lane meets Mouse Hill and was in existance by 1311.The building looks to be of typical Saxon design.Saxon churches were so well built that many are still in existance and still in use throughout England today. This one had to be re-built in 1763 and was then demolished around 1843. Sadly, as with many of Pelsall's historical buildings, every trace of this fine church has been removed, only a few old memorial gravestones remain, propped up against an old boundary wall, as a reminder of the former religious dwelling.
But for this sketch we would have no idea what it looked like.
